They're Blooming!

Forgive me, but I am so tickled with this hellebore:

So enamoured that a second photo is necessary (look! buds! more will be coming!):

This one's pretty nice, too. It's a picotee one.

Here's a link to some that were blooming last month.

*******

They probably deserve their own little post, but here are some crocus blooming now that the snow is melting. I hope there are many more crocus working on bursting forth.

Today's a pretty good day for blooms after several days of looking out at snow.

  3. Thanks for comments!I nearly lost them a few days ago as I didn't realise that the potting mix they are residing in isn't holding moisture very well.
Theyll hopefully be transplanted this weekend as we ve had mild weather and the move should be less stressful!
Love the orchids, have asmall collection too if the dog would stop jumping on them!

  4. Hi melanie! Well, with your garden, I can only imagine it is a matter of hours before something will be out and undoubtedly stunning!

Hi blackswamp_girl! I got it (prepare for long story) in the fall of 05 at Heronswood Nursery. A friend and I were visiting and I was poking about and came across these pots of hellebores. I know it is not very acceptable to say, but things were in a state of shall-we-say...disarray? The labels had both white and pink doubles and looked like they had been mixed up (half in, half out). I really really wanted a pink double, so took a chance...fully expecting it to be white...but at least it would be a double. Last year, it looked more white and didn't double (maybe an extra petal here or there)...so, I thought, great...I got neither...so, now, I can eat my words (chew, chew, chew) because it IS pink AND double...and I am SO happy!

hello there sometimes unwilling guru! Welcome! You have a delightful blog! I'm happy to hear you caught it in time...because I am counting on coming back to see what you've done with them!

I hear you about the dogs! Although here, it is usually my cats that are more of a problem. I think they think the plants on the table are for their own personal jungle effect (not)!

  5. I love seeing your hellebore pictures. They are such a great plant! I'm watching for mine to appear when the snow goes down another inch or two. They were nicely budded a month ago. I've never seen a double before.

Your seed collection is awesome, too. Funny how a little packet can be so fun to collect.

  6. Hi carletongardener! I hope yours come out soon! That is my one and only double...I would love to acquire another (at least)...if it were only seeds (hehe), collection-itis wouldn't be so bad!

    Thanks for stopping by!

Gotta Comment? Great! Thanks in advance for taking the time. I'll get back to you as soon as possible, assuming I'm not in the garden...because there, I lose all track of time...(Don't you?)...Take care now.
