Daffodil Parade and More....

Getting right to it, more daffodil pictures....plus other spring things....and, if you hang on, something at the end that really made my day! Some of these pictures are from yesterday. Others are from today (you'll see the raindrops...yea rain, we need all we can get to fill those reservoirs so that our water restrictions can go away...).

They'll never go away...big sigh...two eradications...unsuccessful...tiger lilies (above)

Hip hip hooray! This, dear blogworld friends, is....my emerging gas plant! Yes! Three times I've tried to grow this...and finally....it had a rough autumn...broken off...mulch removed by critters, etc...but, here it is! (above)

Okay...if you're still here (gold star to you!)....something really special (I think)...

You, yes you, are the first ones to see this! This is a daffodil seedling! Making its first appearance in the world...we'll see how it does...I have nothing like this in all my daffodils...and, you know what else....this is a gift from mother nature! You got it. I didn't do this. Let me show you where it is:

That's it from behind. There's a group of assorted daffodils nearby...you can just see them in the right corner. However, I made this bed...despite the orange builder's clay (time and amending and a never-give-up attitude help)...no daffodils were ever planted there...it seems to be a good area for seedlings...the Japanese Iris ones are nearby and I find daylily seedlings in there as well. Well, we'll have to watch it and see what it does in the future, how well it increases, etc. There's some other smallish daffodil foliage nearby, so maybe there will be other seedlings in the future. I have no idea how long it takes for seeds to make it to this point. The daffodils that it probably came from (although there are lots of others, depending on the time frame) were planted probably in 1999, maybe 2000. I'll have to check the trusty spreadsheet.

So, there you have it! A first!

A rare peek at my garden...I'm no landscaper, but spring is just so fun...have a look

Walking to the front door (above)...

Riley enjoying the blooms (above).....yes, I am not into grass...

Korean Spice Viburnun, assorted daffs, and creeping phlox coming into bloom...more things to come, but a nice early show (above)

A little look at one part of my backyard (above)...can't wait for the daylilies...obviously, there's more room for daffodils (hehe)...maybe now you begin to see how I crowd everything in.

I've just run out of time because there is more...tulips, for instance...the early ones are blooming. My "to blog" list grows ever longer...but, never mind...it's spring!

  3. Absolutely wonderful! I can hardly wait for my own parade of daffodils to begin. Right now I have crocuses and reticulated iris in bloom, but we're weeks behind you in the spring department. Congratulations on your daffodil seedling, and the Japanese iris seedling, too.

  5. How wonderful that you have a daffodil seedling! Yes, I did look at every one of them.

You have all different daffodils to mine, except for Sweetness and Martinette and Martinette has not been happy here.

Baby Moon and Thalia, the last to bloom are blooming now.

  6. Thanks, greg w!

So sorry, trudi....it would be hard to imagine spring without them...thanks, though.

Hello laurel: Do I know you from gardenweb? Well, know is a loose word, but you know what I mean! Thanks so much!

    Thanks, gail...I'm glad you did.

Oh, Jean, you'll have to come back as there will be more...I do love them! It seemed to take Martinette a bit to settle in, but now is coming along. Hope yours does, too.

    Thanks for all your comments!

  7. I guess I should have looked at this post before reading the last - you posted some pictures of views from your garden. Now I have an idea where your Daylilies grow.

Your Daffodils are truly impressive. There is such a variety to them. I would love to have some, but so far have not had much success here.

I was so happy to see your Gasplant showing - it is such a wonderful plant.

How cool is that - the Redbud is amazing in how the blooms break out everywhere.

  8. Great pics! I was linked over from gardenweb in the bulbs forum. Love the redbud pic actually. The buds on the main trunk form a heart shape. Pretty cool!

  9. I love your red bud picture! You must have a pretty mature red bud tree. If you don't mind me asking how old is it?

You branches/trunk just look so much bigger than your buds...unlike mine:

...which is still a pretty young tree.

  10. Hey Kate: Thanks...I just love spring! Every now and then, I let out a little look at my garden. It's no showplace, but it pleases me. Besides, I had finally finished carrying all those blocks around! Hehe.

Welcome, jppublic: I think I saw (was it yours) a request for pictures there...not much action there, too bad...as this should be prime season! Thanks for stopping by.

Hello June: I'll have to come take a look at yours. I actually have two and they are approximately 7-8 years old (planted here, not sure how old they were when I bought them...not too big, as I am not into planting big things!). They've grown fast, to my delight, as I had counted on them shading the azaleas which are underneath. It's worked out pretty well. The azaleas are just beginning to open their first buds (Delaware Valley White....my first ones). One of these days, I'll post pictures of them, the rebuds, as they are quite different, although bought together. One has many more flowers than the other.

Take care now...and thanks everyone for your comments!

Gotta Comment? Great! Thanks in advance for taking the time. I'll get back to you as soon as possible, assuming I'm not in the garden...because there, I lose all track of time...(Don't you?)...Take care now.
