I almost missed it....while going out in the rain tonight to put stuff in the composter, I just happened to see WAITING IN THE WINGS...no longer waiting in the wings...ha...
Actually, yesterday SIMPLY GLORIOUS had its first bloom making it the official opener of my season...but it was a very rainy bloom, noble for its effort...but not glorious....
Also blooming...some of the potted driveway plants...
A very wet SONG WRITER...
TRICOLOR sporting a poly bloom...
ADAMAS...a Texas arrival that is already putting up rebloom scapes...
Others were blooming but the rain made their blooms less that what they are capable of. While out, I did happen to look up at the magnolia and note its magnificent blooms...
That very bottom bloom (I'm standing on the deck stairs...quite a bit away), a little closer...it's the size of a dinner plate...
Soon the craziness will start...rushing out each morning to see what has opened...can't wait!
OOOOOOOOooooooooohhhhhhhh!
ReplyDeleteMagnolias...sigh. I love everything about magnolias, from their huge fragrant blooms, to the shiny leaves with rust colored undersides, to the shower of stamen that get caught in the cupped leaves...the patent leather flame red seeds and the pods that look good too. I miss them!
