Wow, that rose is gorgeous in the first picture. I don't grow roses, and when I see a picture like that, I think that I should. I'm looking forward to seeing all your blooms in the days ahead.
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating in Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day, and for the record, you aren't a bit late!

Hi GG,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely display for Blooms Day you have. Love those Irises, very pretty. And your roses, roses pretty, very pretty!
Variegated Solomon's Seal, eh? Will there be a pic of that later?
What on earth is a Fringe tree? Perhaps I do know it but under a different name? Pic please!
Gotta, I love that fact that you included a lady bug in one of your photos!
ReplyDeleteI love your peony and iris pictures. It is such fun coming here to see what you are growing.
ReplyDeleteYour story about the 5$ plants has stuck in my mind ... it is quite something how growing plants can be such a balm to our spirits. And yes, it is so much cheaper than therapy!! Plus, I think the results are longer lasting.
Why am I NOT surprised at the volume of flowers in this post! What a bunch of beautiful plants, Gotta Garden. May looks spectacular in your garden.
ReplyDeleteIs that a Duchess of Edinburgh?

Love the irises photo!
ReplyDeleteLove your iris! I seem to be saying that a lot on GBBD. So much blooming. I have to plant more.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are just wonderful. I have a red Weigelia starting to show colors at the moment. The rose is so nice; roses are something I could become addicted to. No therapist can cure that addiction. :-) Have a nice rest of the week. Andrea from Germany
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! That is quite a bed of iris! Layanee aka Ginger!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics! Is that rose Graham Thomas by chance?
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of names, do you have a name for that pretty peony? The one that I inherited along with this house is still nameless, and I'll like to ID it--it looks just like yours from the pictures.
Hi Carol: No, we should thank you for thinking this up and being so encouraging! I couldn't be without roses, although I will admit they are not easy care...at least here in Virginia!
ReplyDeleteHi YE: Thank you! Yes, I will make a note to myself and put one up for you! Fringe tree, Chionanthus virginicus, is a gorgeous tree. Mine is still small, with only a few blooms. I do have pictures of some (from elsewhere), so will get that up as well. Here's a website: http://www.arhomeandgarden.org/plantoftheweek/articles/fringe_tree_05-26-06.htm
Hi Mary: You know, I've been seeing a few (very happy about that!) but it looks like I could use about a zillion more! My camera is not cooperative about focusing on small things...so, it took me like 15 pictures to get that one kinda in focus!
Hi Kate: I do go on (and on...)! Thank you, though. It is really something to have people notice and appreciate things! What a nice community of bloggers we have! I always look forward to reading your comments.
Hi Annie: Score! Yes, you are right! Well, it looks like things are hopping in your garden as well...how can we not like May!
Thank you, A Wildlife Gardener! They are just all mixed up! So much for tags (faded and/or pulled out with the weeds)...but still, even with crazy color combinations, I love seeing them each day!
Lol, OldRoses! This is the month for it! Are we ever satisfied?! I think I know the answer to that!
Thanks, Andrea! We could probably keep a lot of therapists in business! Then again, maybe we'd convert them!!
Thanks, Layanee!
Hi BS_G: Close, very close...it is Golden Celebration...also a David Austin Rose. I have Graham Thomas and it should be opening very soon. Golden Celebration gets first honors this year. I hope to post about them soon, the English roses that I adore...they are my very favorite...although, I like lots of others, too!
I wish I could help you..I'm afraid I bought too many peonies in mixes or assortments or mislabeled...whatever. I have several like that (which wasn't my intention)...so, it must be readily available! I will, at some point, go through my stacks of tags (yes, I save them!)...but they are in various places (I am so disorganized!)...so give me some time...maybe, just maybe we can find it!
Thank you all for coming over! I look forward to hearing from you!
BS_G: I think it may be Mon. Jules Elie...the other possibility is Kansas, but the particular one I planted shouldn't be Kansas (famous last words) as I have only bought one (knowingly) Kansas and it is a bit further up. However, it is always a possibility that I didn't get what I thought, given where I purchased.
ReplyDeleteI have found a bit of this with daffodils a while back. I thought I had purchased quite a few different varieties...but when they bloomed, I seemed to have a lot of the same. I was discouraged for a bit. Then, I begin to be more selective in my purchasing...and voila, variety appeared.
Should I just say that most of the peonies (not all...I purchased Bowl of Beauty from a reputable seller...in bloom...last year) came from similar sources as those errant daffodils...it just takes longer to really see the result(s).
Anyway, it doesn't take anything away from how pretty they are...just my idea that I wanted more variety than I seem to have.
Thanks for looking that up, GG. I'm off to research both of those to see if I might have either! :)
