Last Chance for Romance
Happily growing in the window is a prolif from Last Chance for Romance. I found it just before the hard freezes became common and brought it in. It's hanging in there. As a prolif, it is Last Chance for Romance, unlike a seedling.
If it continues to thrive, in a couple of years, it should produce blooms like these:

Dreaming of Spring
While looking for last year's pictures of Snowdrops (which are apparently on another drive connected to a different computer), I ran across some pictures from last spring...the very much hurried up spring of 2010....it was fun looking at the pictures but not so fun discovering I had cropped and sorted most of them...already...however, here are a few from mid April that I might have missed posting...maybe...
VA Bluebells...
and an allium, probably Purple Sensation...
This is obviously a poeticus daffodil....bought as poeticus ornatus...I don't know if it was just having an interesting day or if it might be another species, perhaps....
Just because....on a cold wintery day, it's nice to dream of spring...
Actually....looking at the azaleas reminds me...I should go check to see if the Pink Dawn Viburnum is blooming (in real time)....except...that's right...it's still icy over on that side....I'll just have to wait...

Happy New Year!
Here's to a wonderful 2011 and to a great gardening season(s) for all of us!
Okay, I'm excited. My cats delivered to me a fantastic Christmas/New Year's gift. For some time, since last summer, I have been plagued by a mole. While I know moles, unlike voles, do not eat plants....believe me, they can create a lot of problems in the garden....or, at least in my garden.
Tunnels all over the place, bulbs and newer plants uprooted including some prized epimediums and heucheras which tanked upon finding themselves up on the surface...bricks in walkways loosened and displaced as said mole made his/her way around. Not counting possible sprained ankles should you step unaware onto a tunnel...actually, it sorta looked like someone was trying to rototill....something that's never happened in my garden.
So....****squeamish warning****
No longer a problem for me....
Yippee...
....DH suggested this for size perspective....
My cats keep an eye on the voles, too....***squeamish warming***
Nasty voles do eat plants...so, I give a happy shout whenever the cats display a prize for me...I have lost plants, especially shrubs (especially daphnes....grrrr) to them...

I happened to be working on pictures from June 6th and I came across these photos of a box turtle that I almost stepped on while looking at my daylily seedlings....
I thought it was the one that visited my garden in '09...until I compared the pictures...
Whoa....what a difference.

(He only does these things for DD....He was actually sleeping like this...)
