2011 AHS National Convention: Crochet Daylily Garden (an open garden)

Last year around this time, we were making our way southward to Baton Rouge, LA, for the 2011 AHS National Convention.  Travel took us two days but afforded me the opportunity to arrive early enough to take in some open gardens.  I was especially interested in Crochet Daylily Garden as Mr. Clarence Crochet is legendary for his daylilies...and his jokes.

Driving up, this is my first view...

It was a bright beautiful sunny day.  Keep that in mind as you view the daylilies.

Other daylily lovers were already enjoying the garden.

Those red zinnias were really eye catching.

A huge clump of Lacy Marionette was one of the first I saw.

As you'll see, zinnias edged the beds all around.

Eager to see the daylilies, here were a few that I saw right away:

Thanks, Ed. I'm working on the next one, the first one on tour, actually.

Wish we could share, Bev, or better yet...balance it out so that we don't have dry months.

Haha, Shady Gardener, you do know me too well. However, I am so so so space constrained these days. Plus, the Rude Monster is busy clearing the backyard (not on my schedule)...not with my approval, mind you. I am actually being rather constrained these days.

Let me say, though, that it would be the usual convention to not return with some new plants and I did get two on the bus. Sadly, (sort of) I missed out on another as they were handed out to others after telling some of us to go on in the hotel, that they would be handed out tomorrow. (Can you tell I'm still pouting??)

Plus, let me delicately say that rust was an issue and I'll just leave it at that.

Thank you, Stein Garden. And, thanks everyone!
