Well who wouldn't want blue poppies? Gorgeous, but I understand they only grow at high altitude (very high altitude!). I think cool summers are the secret, and that's hard for most of us to come by.
Hi lostroses: Indeed, but when has a good challenge stopped us gardeners...lol! There are always exceptions (my motto) and as our local extension agent says, "Plants don't read the literature."
Hi YE: How did I miss you?? Sorry! No, no poppies...so far. I did have some purple ones that had reseeded a couple years...but I see no sign of them. Perennial ones don't seem to do well...and you see the luck I am having with annual ones! However, I never say never...
passionate gardener (no!); former master gardener volunteer; daylily enthusiast; and aspiring novelist. I am totally, most certainly, quite positively not addicted to plants...addictions are things you need to get over...and, well, I have no intention of getting over plants! There!
I LOVE comments and want to take a moment to thank you for taking the time to post one. Please do not be offended if I don't respond right away...I will, hopefully, get back to you...before too long. Life gets busy and I don't always respond promptly. I do value your contribution, so thanks for coming over!

Give me odorous at sunrise a garden of beautiful flowers where I can walk undisturbed (preferably in my pajamas)

I appreciate the misunderstanding I have had with Nature over my perennial border. I think it is a flower garden; she thinks it is a meadow lacking grass, and tries to correct the error.

Inspiring, indeed! If I'm not successful this year, I will not give up.
Now you DO know that the picture you posted is the ultimate...blue poppies at the Chelsea Flower Show. I hope to get there someday, too.
Thank you for this post! It made me smile! :-)
So interesting! I've never seen blue poppies.....
Is the background called wattling?
Enjoy reading your blog.....
Ohhhhhhhh, poppies pretty! Now that's true blue, isn't it? Hopefully Kylee will succeed this year with her blue poppies.
GG are you going to sow poppies this year? I've sown a few today allthough not blue ones.
These are beautiful - I am hoping if we all send good growing thoughts Kylee's way, her poppies are going to be lovely for her.
You are a sweetie GG!
Kate, I like that idea... and GG, I love this picture of the blue poppies. (Chelsea? You lucky girl!)
