Those camellias are absolutely luscious-looking! I've enjoyed all of your pics from the Norfolk Botanical garden, too... being a northern gardener, I never realized that the crepe myrtles had such gorgeous bark. I'm not convinced the concrete is enough to stop that bamboo, though. I think it's just planning its escape is all. ;)
Oh yes, some varieties have a cinnamon colored bark which peels beautifully (if that makes sense!). And, they have a long bloom period...you see them used in parking lots, so you know they can take abuse! Too bad they're not hardier, though.
Thanks for your nice words! Yeah, bamboo is pretty scary...where I worked last year, we actually sold it (to my dismay)...I followed people who had it in their cart giving them a lecture whether they wanted it or not! Most had no idea, by the way...
